Token

The smallest piece of text a language model reads and writes, often part of a word. Both the price and the limit for how much the model can read are counted in tokens.

A Swedish word often becomes two or three tokens. When you use a language model through an API you pay per token. Both the question with its material and the answer count.

The cost per question is usually low. In our own chatbot it is about SEK 0.15 per question. It can still run away if many people ask a lot, so what we build always has a cap per user and per day.
